THREE new cases of BSE were reported by the Department of Agriculture last night, bringing the total so far this year to 68, writes Sean Mac Connell
One was a six-year-old cow in a 75-strong dairy herd in Cork. Another was a five-year-old cow in a dairy herd of 96 animals in Co Wexford. The third was a five-year-old cow in a 111-strong dairy herd in Limerick.
This brings to 183 the total number of animals infected in the Republic since 1989. The infected animals and all others in the herds will be slaughtered.
