THREE more people have been remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of a Derry Protestant man, Mr Ivan Hetherington.
Mr Hetherington (21) was attacked and beaten as he made his way home in Derry's Waterside early last Saturday morning.
At Limavady Magistrates Court yesterday, three men were remanded in custody to Derry Magistrates Court on June 6th.
The three are Mr Thomas Heuston (17), of Strabane Old Road; Mr Anthony Carlin (18), of Corrody Road, and Mr Paul Doherty (17) of Rathlin Drive, all in Derry. The latest appearances bring to six the number of people charged in connection with the attack.
A 15-year-old juvenile also appeared at yesterday's court in connection with the assault. However, the resident magistrate, Mr Des Perry, released the defendant after a submission from his solicitor, Mr Kevin Casey, that there was insufficient evidence for his detention.
