Three men were today charged at a specially convened sitting of the Special Criminal Court in connection with dissident paramilitary activity.
The three were arrested in Dundalk in Co Louth on Saturday morning when detectives investigating dissident republican activity allegedly found them with bomb-making equipment.
Today twins Mr Alan Patterson and Mr Kenneth Patterson (30) from Finglas in Dublin and Mr Darren O'Donagh (22) from Dundalk were charged with having an improvised time and power units which it might be "reasonably inferred" were intended for unlawful purposes.
They were held in custody to appear before another sitting of the court on June 15th.
Mr Justice Deery told the men they would then be entitled to seek bail provided they gave prosecuting counsel 48 hours' notice of their intention to do so.
A woman arrested in Blackhall Place in Dublin also on Saturday was questioned in Mountjoy Garda station after timer power units were allegedly found at her home. She has been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
