TWO women and a man were being questioned by gardai in Dublin last night in relation to two murders in Tallaght last November.
The three were arrested in early morning raids at their homes yesterday. The man was being held last night in Tallaght Garda station and the two women were in custody at Ronanstown.
They are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act which allows detention for up to 48 hours without charge.
They are being questioned about the murders of Ms Catherine Breanan (28) and Mr Eddie McCabe (30), who were shot dead as they drove through Tallaght early on the morning of November 24th.
The murders were initially thought to be linked to drug dealing but are now believed to have been the result of an argument outside a local disco shortly beforehand.
Mr McCabe and Ms Brennan had met each other at the Embankment pub and had returned to her house nearby before heading out at about 3 a.m. to buy cigarettes at a filling station on the Tallaght bypass. Their bodies were found with their car at about 4.30 a.m. Both had been shot in the head. Ms Brennan is believed not to have been involved in the argument between Mr McCabe and his killer, but to have been killed simply because she witnessed Mr McCabe's murder.
Mr McCabe, who had a criminal record, was due in court this month on a charge relating to hijacking a taxi with a shotgun in 1994.
