Three held over McMahon murder

Gardaí investigating the murder of Seamus McMahon in Co Louth in 2010 have arrested three people.

Gardaí investigating the murder of Seamus McMahon in Co Louth in 2010 have arrested three people.

Two men in their 20s and a woman in her teens were arrested in the Drogheda area this morning.

They are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda stations.

McMahon (41) was shot dead in a property at Bothar Croinn, Dundalk on March 21st 2010.

He died over what was believed to be a personal matter but his death was at the time linked to dissident activity.

He was previously charged with being a member of the IRA although he was later acquitted at the Special Criminal Court.

Gardaí believe a three man gang armed with at least one handgun observed his movements prior to killing him.

A total of seven people have now been held in relation to the incident.
