Three men have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack at a house in Limerick early yesterday.

Three men have been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack at a house in Limerick early yesterday.

Three people injured in the fire are still in hospital in Cork, Limerick and Dublin.

A couple and their five children, ranging in age from 14 to one, as well as two neighbouring children, were in the house in the Ballinacurra-Weston area of Limerick when the fire broke out shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday. All of them were taken to hospital, but six were later discharged.

A four-year-old girl, Catlin Ryan, was removed to Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin, Dublin where she is said to be in critical condition. Her one-year-old sister Leah, was still in the intensive care unit at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The children's mother, Ms Jackie Ryan, is being treated at the specialist burns unit at University College Hospital, Cork.

It's understood the house was targeted in a petrol bomb attack.

Gardai are questioning one of the men at Roxboro Garda Station, while the other two are being held at Henry Street Garda Station.

The men were arrested late yesterday in connection with the incident. They are being held under Section 30 of Offences Against the State Act, and can be held for up to 72 hours.
