Three members of a family who were killed in a crash while on their way to spend Christmas in Co Limerick will be buried in Cappamore tomorrow. Andrew Patrick Coffey and his wife, Agnes, who were in their 50s, and their daughter, Siobhan (20), died on Friday night when their rented car collided with an articulated truck on the main Dublin-Limerick road near Mountrath, Co Laois. They were travelling from their home in Deptford, south-east London, to spend Christmas with Mr Coffey's 94-year-old mother, Mrs Katy Coffey, in Cappamore.
A 60-year-old woman died in a collision involving a van and two cars at Killyneill junction in Co Monaghan on Saturday night.
Ms Mai Mooney from Annacramp, Monaghan, was a passenger in a car driven by her son. Four injured people were taken to Monaghan General Hospital.
In Dublin a boy died on Saturday of burns. Spilt petrol caught fire in a tent where Gerard Meehan, aged 11, of Cooley Road, Drimnagh, was camping with friends in a neighbour's garden early last week.
In Mayo Mr Tony Deane (17), of Mount Jubilee, Geesala, Ballina, was killed when hit by a van on the outskirts of Belmullet on Friday night.
