Three charged after arrests at Dublin squat

Three men and a woman have been charged with trespassing after being arrested at a squat in Dublin city centre last night.

Three men and a woman have been charged with trespassing after being arrested at a squat in Dublin city centre last night.

Mr Giuseppe Gisardi (38) of no fixed abode, Mr Niall Ketchley (18) of no fixed abode and 20-year-old Ms Polly Murphy, with an address in Horcley Lane Gardens, Highgate, London appeared in Dublin District Court.

All three were charged with trespass at 41 Leeson Place, Dublin 2 under Section 13 of the Criminal Justice Act. Mr Gisardi was also charged under Section four of the Criminal Damage Act for being in possession of five stencils and two cans of spray paint with the intent to cause damage or to allow others to cause damage.

The two men were remanded in custody to Cloverhill prison while Ms Murphy will be taken to the women's unit in Mountjoy. They are all due to appear again in Dublin District Court on May 5th. They have been give consent to bail which they must take up in the next 24 hours under the following conditions:

  • that they reside at address satisfactory to the Garda
  • that they sign on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Bridewell Garda Station
  • that they surrender their passports
  • that they each give a personal surety of €450, one third of which must be lodged with the court
  • that they each give an independent surety of €1,500, one third of which must be lodged with the court.
