Three arrested after Kildare armed robbery

Three men have been arrested over an armed robbery at the Hazel Hotel in Monasterevin early this morning.

Three men have been arrested over an armed robbery at the Hazel Hotel in Monasterevin early this morning.

The incident took place shortly after 3.30am this morning, and gardaí attending the scene saw a dark coloured car

speeding out of Barrow Close, opposite the hotel, in the direction of Dublin.

Three men, aged 18, 20 and 35, were later arrested in a wooded area at Clogheen, Monasterevin, and are being held at Kildare and Newbridge Garda stations under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

A loaded sawn-off shot gun was also recovered from a car on Drogheda Street. An attempt had been made to steal this car, a Garda statement said.
