Thirty jobs will be created in the west with the opening of a new research and development centre, it was announced today.
The new office will be opened in Co Galway by US IT group Lumension, with the help of IDA Ireland.
Housing and local services Minister Michael Finneran said the launch highlighted Ireland’s attractiveness as a technology hub.
“On behalf of the Irish Government I am delighted to welcome Lumension to Ireland with the establishment of 30 jobs in Co Galway,” Mr Finneran said.
“The decision by a company of the calibre of Lumension to choose Ireland as the location for this significant investment in information technology adds further impetus to Ireland’s reputation as a leading location for software development operations.”
Lumension develops, integrates and markets IT security software solutions that help businesses protect their data and networks.
Colleen Shannon of Lumension said Galway was selected because of the Government’s drive in attracting new technology companies.
Lumension, which is headquartered in Arizona, has offices in in Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and Spain.
