A third body has been found in the burnt-out Shropshire home of British businessman Christopher Foster, police said today.
"We had the remains confirmed as human late last night by a Home Office pathologist and work has now begun to extract the body," said Detective Superintendent Jon Groves, of West Mercia police.
Christopher Foster (50), his wife Jill (49), and their 15-year-old daughter Kirstie have not been seen since a fire burned down their house in Shropshire last Tuesday.
Police said the fire had been started deliberately.
The body of Jill Foster's body and that of an unidentified man were found in the burned-out house last weekend. Mrs Foster had been shot in the head.
Tests are being carried out to establish the identity of the dead man and to discover the cause of his death.
A .22 rifle, which was legally held by Mr Foster, was found at the scene. Forensic tests are being held on the gun to determine if it was the murder weapon. Spent and unspent gun cartridges were found scattered around the grounds of the property.
Three horses and four dogs were also found shot dead in the grounds of the house.
Mr Foster was facing financial difficulties after his company Ulva Ltd went into liquidation.
He faced legal action from one of its suppliers for thousands of pounds and also owed about £800,000 (€990,000) in tax.
