A selection of fans' thoughts from the opening day of the 2010 Oxegen festival:
Ailbhe Doherty, 21, Rathmines, Dublin:
"We came down last night to camp, great craic. It was deadly, we were in the Blue campsite, people had guitars, sing-songs, it was brilliant. The first act I want to see is the Villagers. [Then] Arcade Fire, Jay Z, maybe Empire of the Sun. Hopefully see Ellie Goulding as well."
Dan Yeomans, Norfolk, England:
"Wet, but not too wet, lots of fun. Eminem, Muse. The camping is ok, ground is pretty good so far, we’re in family camping so its ok for the wee one, my daughter Abbey. Weather is typical Ireland. No inappropriate weather, just inappropriate clothing!"
Padraig O Murchu, Drogheda:
"Got down today. Having a great time. Looking forward to Black Eyed Peas tomorrow. Camping is good. It’s grand, we’re tucked away in the corner. Weather is fine, I've been coming for a few years so I’m used to it at this stage."
Rachel Galvin, 22, Ranelagh, Dubin:
"I arrived down earlier this afternoon. Haven’t seen any acts yet but looking forward to seeing Arcade Fire, Jay Z, Vampire weekend – its all ahead of me.The weather has been dreary but it hasn’t’ dampened anyone’s mood, everyone’s just up for the craic, it doesn’t matter what the weather is like."
Claire O Brien, Galway city:
"Arrived on the bus from Dublin. Staying in a hotel. We’re too posh to camp! Florence and the Machine, Jay Z, Eminem. Weather doesn’t matter. Even if it rains, its still good!"
James O Neill, 24, Belfast:
"Arrived down Friday morning. It’s just out of this world, its tremendous. The campsite is going well, everyone is happy and everyone is friends – its beautiful. Villagers and The Coral."
Nick Newcomb (20), Jackson, Mississippi:
"Its my first time in Europe, first time in Ireland. I love Ireland, its been fun.Oxegen’s been unbelieveable. I wanna see Muse. I wish it was sunny but this is more fun, it cools me down. Not at all like Mississippi! Campsite is awesome, we’ve been drinking in our camp, its been unbelievable."
