WHEN Clare Langan's exhibition Track opened in the Gallery of Photography in Meeting House Square on Thursday, artists young and old squashed into both floors, admiring the work and exchanging news. Photographers Danny de Clienu, who is showing with Clare in Salamanca in Spain and Rachel Ballagh, who will open her first solo exhibition in the Temple Bar Gallery next month, both popped in.
Artist Remco de Fouw will also exhibit in the Temple Bar Gallery and he arrived with partner Rachel Joynt, who is working on a piece in Derry. The pair recently sent off a piece to adorn the front of an environmental centre of Newcastle and hoped it looked well as they had not seen it in situ.
Singer Nick Kelly, who came along with Niamh Hyland, was in a state of excitement as not only is his album about to be released in England but he had just heard that his was the only short story to be included in the Ian St James prize collection.
At fist Richard Kingston, whose exhibition opens next Monday in the Solomon Gallery, popped in with his wife Jennifer, his daughter Cyan arrived later and could be seen chatting, to artist Corban Walker. Walker is working towards shows in both Green on Red galleries and is also sending work to the Basle art fair.
Eoin Foyle, who together with Jonathan Bourke owns the latest See or be seen in restaurant Eden in Temple Bar, dropped by, as did artist Peter Kennedy who runs their other restaurant, Odessa off Exchequer Street. Brendan, McCarthy and Ger Creed of Bluelight Films also wandered among the acid bright prints.
