And it has been a particular nightmare for beef. Yet consumption is holding up despite BSE and E coli 0157. The farm research and advisory body, Teagasc, is staging an international conference on how the meat industry can cope in the new millennium in the face of strict quality regulations and unprecedented consumer demands. The day-long conference takes place at the Grand Hotel, Malahide, Dublin on Thursday, May 14th, with some of the world's most prominent meat research scientists speaking.
