THERE was a big turn-out from Leinster House on Tuesday to celebrate the publication of Maureen Gaffney's The Way We Live Now at the National Museum. As it is a book full of sound psychological advice, many might have felt they needed it. There was also a fair number of legal eagles including former AG Harry Whelehan and judges Catherine McGuinness and Ronan Keane.
PD leader Mary Harney and FF deputy leader Mary O'Rourke were both there as were deputies Tom Kitt, Helen Keogh and Eric Byrne and Senator Mary Henry. Minister of State Eithne Fitzgerald was talking about her EMU party tonight which is being held to thank those who helped her husband John - Garret's son - with his book on the subject and she wondered if she could get an emu for decoration. FG deputy Frances Fitzgerald chatted about the 3rd annual Garret FitzGerald lecture lunch in the Shelbourne on November 4th. It's in aid of the Dublin South East constituency, costs £75 a head, and at least 250 are expected.
