Ten people were injured in Turkey today in scuffles which erupted between supporters of different parties competing in the general election, the Anatolia news agency reported.
An observer from the only Kurdish party running in the poll, the Democratic People's Party (DEHAP), was beaten up by residents of a village in the eastern province of Van, the hometown of a leading candidate from the centre-right Motherland party, Anatolia said.
Two people were taken into custody after the incident, it added.
In the southeastern province of Siirt, four people were injured in a fight over whose turn it was to vote, the agency said.
In a separate incident in the eastern province of Batman, which also broke out over turns to vote, five people sustained slight injuries and were treated at the local clinic.
Around 41 million voters are voting in Sunday's general elections which is expected to bring to power a party with a suspected Islamist agenda and spell defeat for the outgoing government.
