Ten men have been arrested and a significant amount of cash has been seized by gardaí investigating organised crime in the southeast, south and west of the country.

Officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau and Regional Support Units assisted local gardaí in the operation which involved searches at a number of properties.

A Garda source said the operation targetted a money trail connected to gangs believed to have been involved in burglaries, thefts and robberies in the southeastern, southern and western regions.

The arrested men were all aged in their 20s and 30s. They are being held at Garda stations in Limerick, Shannon, Clonmel, Dungarvan, Mallow, Nenagh, Clonmel and Bruff under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
