Jakarta - Twelve Indonesian high school students drowned in a river in the west Java town of Bogor while apparently trying to flee attackers from a rival school, it was reported yesterday.

The students from a marine school were attempting to escape from a rival gang from an aviation high school on Friday when they drowned in the Cisadane river. The aviation students had come from Jakarta to avenge the beating of their schoolmate earlier in the week. A fierce brawl broke out involving hundreds of students, some of them carrying makeshift weapons.
