A teenager who committed crimes while on bail has been sentenced to five years detention for threatening a man with, a spanner, threatening to kill him and robbing him of personal possessions 50 after giving him a lift.
Judge Cyril Kelly was told Garda Brian Fitzpatrick that" the teenager had been given a two year term of detention by Dundrum District Court recently for robbery, burglary and handling stolen goods offences
Garda Fitzpatrick told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court he committed these offences while awaiting sentence on a charge of robbing a watch, a jacket and £2.50 cash on December 31st, 1994. He had pleaded guilty last July and was remanded for sentence pending reports.
The robbery victim had hitched a lift from the defendant and a co accused.
The 16 year old youth from a south city suburb cannot be named for legal reasons.
