Teenager seriously injured in car crash dies in hospital

DONEGAL: A teenager who was seriously injured in a car crash in Co Donegal in the early hours of yesterday morning has died.

DONEGAL:A teenager who was seriously injured in a car crash in Co Donegal in the early hours of yesterday morning has died.

The young man was driving a car which collided with a van on the N13 Letterkenny to Ballybofey road.

The man was brought to Letterkenny General Hospital where he was placed in the intensive care unit suffering from serious head injuries.

He was named locally as Shane Patton (19) from Drumkeen, which is only a short distance from where the crash happened.

Mr Patton had just completed his Leaving Certificate at St Columba’s College in Stranorlar.

He was working part time at a local service station.

Last night friends and relatives of the teenager were comforting his mother Julie and father Martin and younger siblings Jason and Deena.

Two other people involved in the incident were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.

A man aged 38 and a woman aged 23 remain in hospital suffering from multiple fractures but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
