A teenager has been sent forward for trial charged with the manslaughter of Oughterard publican and teacher John Kenny at his pub in Oughterard last year.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared before the Children’s Court in Galway yesterday.

He is charged with Mr Kenny’s manslaughter at Kenny’s Pub, Main Street, Oughterard, on September 25th last year. He is also charged with withholding information from the Garda investigation in relation to the offence.

Judge Mary Fahy sent the teenager forward for trial to the next sittings of Galway Circuit Criminal Court beginning on May 1st next, when a date will be set for his trial.

Co-accused Marian Lingurar (35), Orchard Court, Blackpool, Cork, who faces the same charges, was sent forward for

trial to the same date in May when he appeared before Galway District Court last week.

A third man, Florin Fitzpatrick (37), with a former rental address at The Green, College Road, Galway, who is charged with withholding information in relation to Mr Kenny’s death, was also returned for trial last week to May 1st.
