A teenage girl killed on her way to a party in Cork in February suffocated to death after being choked and beaten about the face, an inquest heard yesterday. A fast-food restaurant worker, Ms Rachel Sandeman (17), Mahon Drive, Mahon, Cork, died from asphyxia caused by obstruction of her airways and inhalation of blood from facial injuries.
The inquest into Ms Sande man's death yesterday heard evidence from the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, who conducted a post-mortem on February 6th.
The Cork City Coroner, Dr Myra Cullinane, granted an application by gardai to adjourn. Criminal proceedings were now under way.
