A South Carolina teenager had admitted killing her grandma's dog by leaving it in the freezer.

A South Carolina teenager had admitted killing her grandma's dog by leaving it in the freezer.

The 14-year-old thought the Chihuahua, called Cookie, looked too hot.

She put it in the freezer to cool it down, but forgot about it until the next day.

Officers found the dog wrapped in a towel.

The girl has pleaded guilty to ill treatment of animals and faces up to six months in a juvenile facility.

Shirley Evans has told the Augusta Chronicle her granddaughter has an attention disorder.

"It was not an intentional thing. She was upset about it as much as us. She just literally forgot," she said.

Mrs Evans says she still has flashbacks of the incident.
