Motorists were today warned to be aware of black ice on the road as police confirmed a teenager was killed in a car crash.

The 17-year-old was driving a car that was involved in a collision with another car on the Newcastle Road in Seaford, near Ballynahinch, in Co Down, shortly after 10pm last night.

He was named this morning as Odhran McGreevy from the Loughinisland area.

Two people in the second car, a woman in her 40s and a man in his 30s, were

taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

Elsewhere the PSNI said it is attending eight crashes in the Lisburn area caused by the black ice.

A PSNI spokeswoman advised motorists to drive with extra care and reduce their speed.
