A Co Clare teacher who has pleaded guilty to 14 sexual offences against a teenage girl is to be sentenced in July.

The man, aged 60, pleaded guilty in January to 10 counts of sexually exploiting and four of defiling the girl, who was aged 15 in relation to 11 of the 14 charges. At Ennis Circuit Court yesterday, Stephen Coughlan SC, for the State, said the case was “a sensitive matter, and evidence will be lengthy”. Judge Carroll Moran said the man could be sentenced during the next court sessions in Ennis on June 24th. Michael Collins, for the accused, asked Judge Moran to hear the case on his sentencing day on July 18th instead. Judge Moran acceded.
