A GRAMMAR school teacher yesterday pleaded guilty to downloading thousands of images of children being abused.
Appearing in the dock of Craigavon Crown Court, Steven Vincent Colton (52) pleaded guilty to 30 charges of making indecent photographs of children on dates between March 22nd, 2004 and January 4th, 2008.
Colton, of Ballygoskin Road in Crossgar, Co Down taught history and politics at the Sullivan Upper Grammar School in Holywood until his arrest in January 2008.
Crown prosecutor David McClean told the court that the 30 counts were specimen charges – five of which were the highest and most grave category. He said some 67,000 still images and approximately 13,000 movie images were involved. Colton was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced next month.
