Dublin needs a bus service operating later at weekends, the Dublin Area Taxi Association has said. The association also complained of "unwarranted delays" at Dublin Airport.
"Taxi-drivers are criticised for not being able to meet the demand for service in the three or four hours after midnight on weekend nights," said Mr Tommy Gorman. "Bearing in mind that these taxi-drivers are underemployed for much of the rest of the week, we think that the criticism is unfair. We would support any measures which would help to reduce queues, such as the provision of later public transport and the improvement of rank facilities.
"We are looking at a separate problem at Dublin Airport, where our drivers face unwarranted delays in getting to the terminal building from the holding area," he said.
