The Taoiseach's youngest daughter has landed a $1 million deal with a US publisher to write two novels, it was revealed today.

Cecelia, a 21-year-old journalism and media graduate from Griffith College Dublin, has already signed a six-figure-deal with a separate publisher to have the two novels published in Ireland and the UK.

"Last night was just unbelievable. I got another deal with America for two books as well and for a million dollars. I can't believe it," she told RTÉ radio.

"I won't be given it all at once obviously. It will be over a long period of time," she said, adding that she did not believe being Mr Ahern's daughter had any influence with the publishers.

The deals are based on 10 chapters of a book she has partly written about a young woman whose husband dies of a brain tumour and who leaves a series of letters to be read by his wife at monthly intervals after his death.

The novel, entitled PS: I Love You, is due to be published in 2004.

Mr Ahern's eldest daughter, Georgina, last month announced her engagement to Nicky Byrne of boy band Westlife.
