Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan is due to lead a trade mission to Russia in May.
The Enterprise Ireland-led delegation will include Irish firms hoping to expand into the former Communist country.
"The 10-day mission will feature a number of networking opportunities for companies already in the Russian market to allow them to deepen their trade and commercial ties with the country," said an Enterprise Ireland official.
Ms Coughlan will meet leading Russian businesspeople during the trip from May 18th to the 30th.
Enterprise Ireland's office in Russia also has responsibility for developing markets in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Belarus and Moldova.
Other trade missions are being planned in coming months - to Saudi Arabia and Qatar in April and South Africa in September.
Business sectors being targeted in Johannesburg, Durban and Capetown will include telecoms, financial software, utilities, construction and engineering services.
The Taoiseach led an Enterprise Ireland trade mission to Japan last month.
