Tallies indicate Fine Gael vote collapse

Fine Gael is struggling to keep seats in key constituencies this morning, as early tallies emerge from manual counting.

The biggest shock for the party was in Dublin North where electronic counting ended early this morning. Former Fine Gael deputy leader, Ms Nora Owen failed to hold her seat in with Fianna Fáil’s Mr Jim Glennon gaining the seat.

In Dublin Central Jim Mitchell appears to be in trouble, while his brother Mr Gay Mitchell has seen his vote collapse in Dublin South Central.

Meanwhile Ms Frances Fitzgerald looks set to lose her seat in Dublin South East, where Progressive Democrat Candidate Mr Michael McDowell is expected top the poll.
