A Sydney woman says she is the unrecognised daughter of the late Frank Sinatra and the Hungarian actress, Eva Bartok.
Ms Deana Moore, who lives in the beach suburb of Avalon, was quoted in yesterday's Sydney Daily Telegraph as saying she still hoped for a few words of recognition in Sinatra's will - even if she saw none of his fortune.
Sinatra died in Los Angeles of a heart attack last Thursday, aged 82.
The Telegraph said Ms Moore was born 40 years ago after an affair in Hollywood between Bartok and Sinatra, who was then breaking up from his second wife, Ava Gardner. Ms Moore was not answering the telephone to reporters yesterday, but the tabloid quoted her as saying that Sinatra had not kept in touch with her mother. His only acknowledgement of her existence came when he replied to a telegram from her mother after her birth with the words: "Thank you."
"I am so deeply saddened," the newspaper quoted Ms Moore as saying. "How could it have hurt him at the end to be a gentleman. It is theoretically possible that he will acknowledge my existence in his will. I really don't want money - just the words that I am his daughter. His cowardice makes me feel endlessly angry."
In a final plea for recognition she sent him a letter begging for a response four years ago.
"Frank, as humans we only have a certain time on this earth to achieve our goals and this is mine - to meet you," the letter said. The singer again rebuffed her.
Ms Moore, who is separated, with two children, said her mother should have pushed the singer to acknowledge her existence from the start but as he became more famous he became more unattainable.
She will not be going to his funeral, in Palm Springs, California, saying there was "no point". "I must get on with my life. But I will always have a pain in my heart," she said. A private funeral Mass is due to be held for Sinatra in Beverly Hills tomorrow.
