Swiss skier Silvano Beltrametti is paralysed in both legs after crashing in a men's downhill in Val d'Isere today, a leading race official said.
"We have bad news, Silvano Beltrametti is paralysed from the second vertebrae and has blood in the lungs but his life is not in danger," Men's Alpine skiing World Cup chief Gunther Hujara told the race committee.
Beltrametti, who crashed and went straight through safety netting, was flown to hospital in Grenoble.
