Sweden has won the Eurovision Song Contest with a healthy lead over its competition, finishing with 372 points. Loreen, with her intense club track Euphoria, pulled ahead early in the voting and dominated from then onwards.
Sweden has won Eurovision four times before, most recently in 1999. This win will please Eurovision fans, who have championed Loreen's song and consider Sweden a heartland of the 57-year-old contest.
Ireland's Jedward finished a disappointing 19th. They received the most points, 10, from the United Kingdom.
"Congratulations to Sweden," Jedward said after the vote was announced. "She had a great song and if we couldn't be the winners we're glad it was her."
"We want to thank all our amazing fans all over Europe for voting for us. We had an amazing time in Baku."
"We're sure we'll be back again soon to perform for our army of new fans in Azerbaijan. We're looking forward to flying home tomorrow to see all our Jedtastic fans."
The much-loved Buranovskiye Babushki from Russia finished second with 259. The third place finisher was Eurovision veteran Zelkjo Joksimovic from Serbia, with 214 points. Host country Azerbaijan finished fourth with 150 points.
The United Kingdom's Engelbert Humperdinck finished second to last, followed only by Norway.
