LONDON - A firework display which was designed as the centre piece of the Brighton Festival was cancelled on Saturday night when officers from Sussex police found a "suspect package" on the seafront which they believed may have been an IRA bomb, reports Rachel, Donnelly.
A phonecall to a London news agency, using a recognised code, said two devices had been set to detonate on Brighton's seafront. The seafront and surrounding streets in Brighton were evacuated of more than 40,000 people who had gathered to watch the display.
