A man wanted by the German authorities who was arrested in Dublin two weeks ago was yesterday remanded in custody until tomorrow by the High Court. He is being sought in Germany in connection with alleged fraud and forgery.

Mr Samuel Koulibaly (37), also known as Samuel Onojighovie, from Nigeria, has been in custody since his arrest. Last week, the court was told that the German authorities had 18 days from the date of arrest to serve relevant papers.

Yesterday, Ms Sabina Purcell, for the Chief State Solicitor, said that the documents were now in this jurisdiction and the Attorney General needed time to examine them. She asked Mr Justice Smyth to remand the man until tomorrow.

The man was arrested in Tallaght on July 1st and brought to Tallaght Garda station. When the case came before Mr Justice White almost two weeks ago, the judge said there had been publicity prior to it coming before him of a nature which he considered inappropriate.
