A support group for victims of clerical sex abuse has held silent picket protests outside Cathedrals across the State this morning.
They are protesting at the Catholic Church's handling of a number of abuse cases and also the release from the Curragh Prison yesterday of 76-year-old Brother of Charity James Kelly who was jailed for 36 years for sexually abusing young boys in his care in the 1950s and 1960s.
A spokesman for Survivors of Child Abuse, Mr John Kelly, today said the group was urging parishioners not to make donations at mass because these were being used to "stagnate" the Laffoy inquiry into clerical abuse and to fund legal expenses and accommodation for paedophile priests.
Protests were held outside St.Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin and other Cathedrals in Cork, Limerick and Galway.
Many of the protesters are carrying placards saying: "No Representation, No Donation."
