Victims of alleged institutional abuse in Northern Ireland met the Belfast lord mayor Niall Ó Donnghaile (Sinn Féin) yesterday to press for an inquiry and the creation of a redress board to supply compensation and support to victims.
Mr Ó Donnghaile and up to 20 members of the Northern Ireland Survivors and Victims of Institutional Abuse group gathered outside the former home run by the Sisters of Nazareth on the Ormeau Road in Belfast.
Mr Ó Donnghaile told the group he was optimistic their demands would be met.
