Amidst the glut of tuneless and inane pop outfits in this world, we can at least take comfort in the knowledge that there are people making it their duty to point out just how utterly horrible bad pop can be. And Supergirly do this so well.
In their own highly graphic manner these two Australian entertainers - Louise and Janine - bring their own sarcastic lyrics, choreography and coarse sense of humour to an array of familiar songs. Hits including Hear'Say's "Pure and Simple", Destiny's Child's "Independent Women" and Robbie Williams's "Rock DJ" are all twisted and parodied here with hilarious derision.
Geri Halliwell is "just skin and bones" while the Supergirly version of the Spice Girls' "Holler" may as well have been a funeral march for the band and their flagging careers.
Westlife actually come off relatively well with the missive that at least they can sing. Supergirly go for the jugular and don't ease off until they have gleefully put down and ripped apart boy bands, girl bands and those auditioned-on-TV bands.
A really wonderful tonic.
