SLOVENIA:EU LEADERS dined on fillet of guinea fowl with spring vegetables at last night's summit organised by Slovenia, which has used its six-month tenure as EU president to present itself as a gourmet tourist destination.
Europe's political elite started their lavish three-course dinner with a traditional dish called cheese struklji, which is a type of Slovene dumpling made of boiled pastry, combined with a wild mushroom sauce.
For dessert they had walnut parfait, poached pear with honey sauce. The food was washed down with a selection of three of the best Slovenian wines including a dry red wine from the Simcic region.
