A suicide attacker detonated grenades on a commercial street in downtown Kabul on Saturday, killing himself and wounding six other people, including two foreign peacekeepers.
The attacker had six grenades strapped to his body, which he exploded on Chicken Street in the Afghan capital, said Kabul police chief Gen. Baba Jan.
The wounded included four Afghan civilians and two soldiers from the NATO-led peacekeeping force that patrols the city. There were no immediate details on their conditions.
The mutilated corpse of the attacker lay on the street.
A police officer earlier said one Western woman and two children were wounded in the attack, but that information appeared to be incorrect.
A spokesman for the peacekeepers, Lt. Col. Patrick Poulain, said three explosions rocked the street at about 3:30 p.m., but he had no further details.
"We are investigating. We have patrollers on the spot," he said.
