A 19-year-old student has gone on trial at the Circuit Criminal Court in Tralee charged with conspiring with another teenager, now deceased, to assault the late Stephen Lyne. Mr Lyne, a teenager, died from a single stab wound to his back in Killarney, Co Kerry in June 2009.

Martin Ollo, who is from Estonia but has been living in Killarney for many years, pleaded not guilty yesterday.

Prosecutor Tom Rice said the case against Mr Ollo was “on the planning of the attack”. Mr Lyne died “from a single stab wound to his back”, he said. “That was not inflicted by Martin Ollo, but was inflicted by Shane Regan,” he added.
