The Women's Mini Marathon in Dublin on Sunday will see sections of the south side of the city centre close for much of the day. The race starts from Fitzwilliam Square and goes via the Merrion Road to the Belfield flyover at the entrance to UCD before heading back to the finishing point at St Stephen's Green via Donnybrook and Leeson Street.
All of St Stephen's Green will be closed from lunchtime until 6.30 p.m., while sections of St Stephen's Green will be closed from as early as 6 a.m. Lower Leeson Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., while Pembroke Street will be inaccessible from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. Fitwilliam Place, Merrion Square East and Fitzwilliam Street will be closed from 8 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. Other streets on the route will be closed for between one and three hours. Traffic diversions will vary as the race proceeds and will be sign-posted. Pedestrian access will be maintained and "every effort will be made to ensure essential access and egress for residents within the area", according to Dublin Corporation. Gardai have warned that vehicles found parked illegally will be towed away. The race organisers have asked people living along the route not to park on the street between 10 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.
