A clothing factory in Strabane, Co Tyrone, is to close with the loss of 126 jobs. Staff at H.G. Porter and Co Ltd, one of the town's oldest factories, have been told the plant will close within three months. It is understood retailers have decided to import cheaper clothes from Third World countries.
Mr Eugene Mullan, chairman of Strabane District Council, said the closure would be a blow to the town, already labelled the EU's main unemployment blackspot.
