Republican Sinn Fein wants the two international arms inspectors charged with examining IRA arms dumps to state whether there are any circumstances in which they would be prepared to release weapons.
The party's ardchomhairle is asking former Finnish president Mr Martti Ahtisaari and former ANC general secretary Mr Cyril Ramaphosa "to tell the Irish people now if they are prepared to provide for the defence of nationalist people should a situation similar to that which occurred in 1969 take place".
