Two of Hollywood's most influential figures are expected in Dublin later this evening for the premiere of Veronica Guerin, the story of the Sunday Independentjournalist murdered because of her investigations in to the criminal underworld.
The film's producer Jerry Bruckheimer and its director Joel Schumacher are expected at the world premiere at the Savoy cinema in Dublin this evening. Stars expected at the event include the cast led by actress Cate Blanchet and Irish actor Pierce Brosnan.
Irish director, Neil Jordan and American actress Juliane Moore are also rumoured to be attending.
The film relates the story of how the eponymous heroine became the most famous journalist in Ireland for her exposés of Dublin's criminal gangs which were making millions of pounds dealing drugs.
Her stories made her a target for the gangs and she was ultimately murdered in 1996 as she sat in her car on the Naas Road.
Australian actress Cate Blanchett (34) has been widely praised by film reviewers for her performance as has the Irish cast for their portrayal of Guerin's family and the criminals she exposed.
The film is not due for world release until next month, but will be on general release in Ireland from next Friday.
