The Irish music industry dons its glad rags tonight for the Meteor Ireland Music Awards in Dublin, with U2 expected to dominate the awards after being nominated in three categories.
Battling out for the Best Irish Band award are Bell X1, The Coronas, Delorentos, Snow Patrol, and U2, who are also in the running for Best Irish Album, for No Line on the Horizon.
Other contenders in the album category are Bell X1 (Blue Lights on the Runaway), The Coronas (Tony was an Ex-Con), The Duckworth Lewis Method (The Duckworth Lewis Method) and Snow Patrol (Up to Now).
U2, Bell X1 and Snow Patrol are also nominated for Best Irish Live Performance, along with The Script and Christy Moore.
The public were able to vote for their choice in the Best Irish Band, Best Irish Album and Best Irish Live Performance categories.
In other non-voting categories singer Brian Kennedy will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, while Niall Mellon of The Niall Mellon Township Trust will be honoured with the Humanitarian Award.
Lord Henry Mountcharles, the owner of Slane Castle, will receive an industry award for his contribution to the Irish music industry over nearly 30 years since the first Slane concert in 1981.
Brit Award winners Florence and the Machine and Dizzie Rascal are among the acts that will play at the ceremony at the RDS. Others who will perform include The Temper Trap, Westlife, Paulo Nutini, Pixie Lott, The Coronas, Brian Kennedy and the Dublin Gospel Choir.
