Harare - Zimbabwe police showed no sign of enforcing a court order to evict black squatters occupying hundreds of white farms.
"The police are not doing anything because they have not been instructed," said one official after the expiry on Monday night of the High Court's 72-hour deadline for the squatters to withdraw.
Veterans of the guerrilla war against white rule in the 1970s have led the takeover of more than 600 farms in the past month to back President Robert Mugabe's plans to forcibly acquire white farms to resettle landless blacks.
