Watch out for the tall, blonde sheep farmer, says Marianne Potterton. Before long, we are all looking out for Sonja Dineley. She is expected at the opening of Potterton and Arran Henderson's joint photographic exhibition, travelling from the Wiltshire/Dorset border to view the art.
She finally makes it, and it's worth the trip. It's also the first photographic show at the Ashford Gallery in the Royal Hibernian Academy.
Potterton also expects her parents, Vivienne and Scott Potterton, who are coming from Athboy in Co Meath, where they are restoring a granary. Her brother, Simon Potterton, a national school teacher at St Andrew's College, Dublin, and his wife, Nicola Potterton, are also among the well-wishers at the RHA opening on Ely Place.
Many of Arran Henderson's friends have taken an early flight to west Cork for the stag of their friend, gardener William Tycho Carthew Mays, who marries Anthea Haubert in Baltimore today. Go raibh fada buan iad. Arran and his partner, solicitor Leonora Mullet, are confident they will make it down for the wedding. Among the proud family members are Henderson's sister, Emmeline Henderson, an architectural historian, and his mother, Shirley Henderson.
The show, which deals with "nature, the elements, time and ephemerality", runs until Thursday, September 20th.
