An Post is today hoping to clear a backlog of mail caused by industrial action in Co Waterford and Co Mayo as part of the dispute over sorting of mail.
Homes in parts of Co Waterford were left without post yesterday when nine An Post delivery staff based in Tramore staged a sit-in over the sorting of mail. Talks achieved a a resolution last night.
Ahead of talks between the company and the Irish Post Masters' Union on the campaign by rural postmasters for a pay rise in their An Post contracts next week, it is expected that more than 1,100 sub-postmasters will be asked to sort mail at home
