The 17-year-old son of the murdered LVF leader, Billy Wright, has pleaded guilty to charges of riotous assembly and throwing a petrol-bomb. He was remanded on bail.

Stephen Michael Wright from Seagoe Gardens, Portadown, admitted the offences when he appeared yesterday at Belfast Crown Court, sitting in Antrim. His father was shot dead in the Maze Prison by INLA gunmen shortly after Christmas 1997.

Judge Geoffrey Foote heard that the charges arose out of a disturbance in Portadown on July 6th last year. Wright was identified by his distinctive clothing as one of a number of masked men at the scene. This figure was seen to throw a number of items including a petrol-bomb at police Land-Rovers, but the vehicles were not struck. He was arrested shortly afterwards.
